PSS_VD YEAR : 2003 EXHIBITION : EXIT, Gl- Strand, Copenhagen, DK MEASURES : Adaptable MATERIALS : MDF, paint, screws, acrylics, prints DOWNLOAD : PSS_VerticalDisplay.pdf / size 4 MB PolySpatialStructure_VerticalDisplay seaks to outline the field where realtity and virtuality meet. The work consists of square branches, measuring 2x2 cm refering to the colors of the virtual archictecture in the computer game Wolfenstein 3D. The branches form together squares measuring 50x50 cm, which frame different pictures. When the PSS_VD succeeds to form a whole square it shoots out a display. The size of the display diverses from 50 x 50 cm to 50x200cm. The PSS VD project shows pictures from passages, hallways, plans from the computer archicture and diagramatical interpretations about the exchange between man, space and machine. The hallways are real photographical pictures from the undergroundÍs hallways. The minimal expressions of the vasted hallways reflect virtual computer architectures. In addition, the traces of all human activity and connection to the room are completely deleted from the photos. The work underlines a field where reality and virtuality merge. AVPD refers also formally and conceptually to the first animated computer game Wolfenstein 3D presenting virtual architecture from the 90s. |
