Broken View

YEAR : 2010
EXHIBITION: Mit Museum, group show, Kunsten - Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, DK
MEASURES : 2500 x 120 x 240 cm
MATERIALS : Laths, chip boards, plywood, steel laths, glass mirrors, Fantoni accustic boards, carpet, neon tubes, fixture, cables, screws

Broken View is a 1 meter wide and 25 meter long corridor. The corridor is offset by 1 meter at it’s midpoint and a mirror is installed cutting through the middle of the corridor. The mirror creates a view as if the spectator is looking through a straight corridor. The inside is covered with Fantoni acoustic boards on walls and ceiling and a carpet is mounted on the floor. This creates a compact and silent auditory space enhancing the visual and haptic experience of the room.

When the subject moves through the corridor the room is physically narrowing and visually expanding. The conflict between the visual and kinetic perception of the same space creates a spatial entity which is opening and closing itself at the same time.
