An enclosed cylinder is suspended from the ceiling. 96 neon tubes are vertically fixed to the convex inner side of the cylinder. The neon tubes are gradually dimmed by 1/52 each day of the 52 days exhibition period, from extremely high light intensities towards being switched off on the last day. People can enter the inner space of the cylinder by passing under.
Fade to Black inserts a strict linear light scheme into the fluctuating transformation of daylight in the architectural context. The subtle changes of the light intensities of the work from day to day demands the audience to come back and thus discussing how we memorize experiences of time and space.
